[Farm Information]
The background to the founding of Sheila CWS was that a Rwandan exporter discovered Nyabihu coffee while researching "producing areas that could produce unique flavor profiles" within Rwanda. Located at an altitude of 2,300m, the highest point of any coffee-growing area in Rwanda, and nestled in mountain valleys shrouded in thick mist, this terroir offered the potential to produce a cup quality that sets it apart from other areas. Thus, Sheila CWS was founded in January 2017.
Although relatively small, the Shira CWS is located at an altitude of 1,850 meters and prioritizes quality over quantity of cherries. The area is home to approximately 1,600 farmers who bring their cherries to the CWS. The weather conditions, soil, and favorable altitude create an ideal environment for processing and producing high-quality coffee.
