[Farm Information]
Luela Farm is located in Juja Sub-County, Kiambu County, and is currently managed by Kofinafu Company.
The farm produces coffee on an area of 190.31 hectares, employing over 1,000 people during the harvest season.
All cherries are picked by hand and transported to the wet mill. The selected cherries are pulped and dried outdoors on African beds to a moisture content of 10-11%. The dried coffee is carefully managed to prevent rewetting and over-fermentation, maintaining the quality of the coffee.
Approximately 300 workers work on the farm every day, and the farm dormitory has a nursery for preschool children, an on-site primary school, and a medical clinic, creating a safe and friendly relationship between employer, employees, and local residents.
Luella Farm's management is committed to producing high-quality coffee sustainably, which is why they practice environmental conservation practices such as reforestation, energy conservation, proper waste disposal, and preventing soil erosion.
We also pay attention to environmental and social issues related to worker health and safety, and adhere to generally accepted performance standards, guidelines and certifications, such as RFA certification.
This has enabled farms to streamline operations, lower production costs, increase productivity, improve coffee quality, increase market access and sales, and foster better relationships with employees and local communities.
