Founded in 1997 and renewed in 2013, this specialty coffee shop is led by Kasuo Kasai, who sources beans directly and supports producers. In 2020, he launched a crowdfunding project for Honduran farmers and serves as a judge at global coffee competitions.

AKITO COFFEE

AKITO COFFEE, founded by Akito Tanizawa, is a cozy café near Kofu Station, renovated from a folk house. Known for its homemade baked goods and events beyond Yamanashi, the “A” in its logo reflects a desire to always be number one in any setting.

AND COFFEE ROASTERS

AND COFFEE ROASTERS, based in Kumamoto and Tokyo, offers sweet-acid balanced light to medium roasts. Owner Yousuke Yamane travels to origin and engages in global coffee scenes and cultural collaborations in music, art, and fashion.

COFFEE COUNTY roasts daily with a Vintage Probat, using beans sourced directly from producers they’ve met. After living on a coffee farm in 2013, they aim to express each origin’s unique climate and the producer’s personality in every cup.

Founded in Wellington in 1993, Coffee Supreme is one of New Zealand’s oldest specialty roasters. Operating in NZ, Australia, and Japan, they focus on human connection through coffee and aim for B-Corp certification in 2024 to expand their global positive impact.

COYOTE

Based in Kyoto, COYOTE focuses exclusively on coffee from El Salvador. Having worked closely with producers on farms, they source directly and deliver not just high-quality coffee, but also the stories, people, and landscapes behind every cup.

Founded in 2015 in Tokyo’s café-rich Jimbocho, GLITCH COFFEE & ROASTERS offers top-tier light-roast, single-origin coffee—each cup crafted to be truly worth your limited time.

Gluck Coffee Spot

Founded in 2017 near Kumamoto Castle, Gluck Coffee Spot—named after the word for “happiness”—aims to enrich daily life. Treating coffee as an agricultural product, they highlight each origin’s terroir through careful roasting and now operate four shops in the city.

hazeru coffee

Located 20 minutes from Toyama Station, hazeru coffee is known for clean-tasting brews and award-winning roasting. Named after the popping sound of beans, it reflects owner Toyohisa Kubota’s deep passion for coffee and offers a wide variety to explore in-store.

KARIOMONS COFFEE

Founded by Hiroyuki Ito at 23, KARIOMONS COFFEE began as a mobile café and now focuses on direct trade and long-term farm relationships. More than just coffee, they offer rich stories and experiences in a plant-filled, relaxing space.

K COFFEE

Opened in 2014 in Nara, K COFFEE was founded by an owner who once couldn’t drink coffee. With a focus on easy-to-drink, easy-to-brew cups, he roasts on a Giesen machine and continues honing his skills through daily inspiration and roaster connections.

LEAVES COFFEE ROASTERS

Based on the concept “from a local roastery to the world,” Leaves Coffee Roasters uses a vintage Probat to craft light roasts with sweetness, fruitiness, and clarity. Their “Light Roast High Development” method redefines coffee beyond “black and bitter.”

Life Size Cribe

Based in Kokubunji, Life Size Cribe offers coffee that fits daily life, inspired by the idea of a “life-sized secret base.” Ranging from light to dark roasts, they focus on quality extraction and are known for their innovative approach to blending.

LIGHT UP COFFEE

Founded in 2014 in Kichijoji, LIGHT UP COFFEE aims to brighten daily life through delicious coffee. They focus on carefully sourced single-origin beans, delivering quality and positivity in every cup.

Mel Coffee Roasters

Named after Melbourne, Mel Coffee Roasters offers customizable, Melbourne-style coffee from a small corner shop. Led by JBrC and JHDC judge Fumimoto, they specialize in light roasts but also serve medium and dark options.

NAGASAWA COFFEE

Founded in 2012 in Morioka, NAGASAWA COFFEE relocated and expanded in 2018, introducing a vintage Probat UG-15. Offering roasts from light to dark, they aim to enrich lives through high-quality, carefully crafted coffee.

OBROS COFFEE

Founded by the Ogino brothers in Koriyama, Fukushima, OBROS COFFEE offers beautifully textured, transparent coffees with distinct flavors. With one brother roasting and the other managing, they aim to spark joyful, unexpected coffee encounters.

Raw Sugar Roast

Opened in Setagaya in spring 2022, Raw Sugar Roast builds on decades of global coffee experience. They carefully roast single-origin beans to express each farmer’s passion. A new brand, “amber,” is set to launch in Jiyugaoka in autumn 2022.

MANLY COFFEE

Based in Fukuoka, MANLY COFFEE is a small shop with the motto “Coffee is beautiful, life is beautiful.” They serve fresh, fruity coffee brewed with AeroPress and offer a unique style called “MILK BREW.”

TRUNK COFFEE

Based in Nagoya, TRUNK COFFEE brings new value to the world through specialty coffee. Operating in Japan and China, they roast in-house and collaborate globally—most notably developing the award-winning ORIGAMI dripper used by the 2019 WBrC champion.
